When the calendar year turns, it’s natural to take stock of where you have been and look forward to what lies ahead. New year, new me — as they say. This sentiment carries over to home design as well.

Seeing fresh design trends always energizes our team. We love seeing how clients, builders, and neighbors infuse personality in their homes and incorporate emerging design elements. It’s not about overhauling your home. It’s about finding inspiration and obtainable ways to refresh your space so you truly love every inch of it.

After diving into all of the design pros’ predictions for 2025, here is a roundup of our favorite design trends that will unfold throughout the year (and beyond)…

Personality Pieces

After years of lots of minimalist gray and white interiors, homeowners have officially broken free from the monotony and are taking a personal approach to home design in 2025. We love that uniqueness is “trending” because homes truly should reflect the people who live in them. Whether its blending in inherited furniture, displaying art with a personal meaning, or embracing natural materials that patina over time, there are so many ways to bring personality pieces into your home. Let your house tell your story, not your neighbor’s!

Drenching

If you love bold and saturated color’s big comeback, we have the trend for you: drenching. Color drenching is when you utilize a single color in varying shades to create a cohesive and impactful look. It’s perfect for those who want to make a statement or enjoy playful spaces. Painting a room’s walls, trim, and doors the same hue can also make it feel bigger, calmer, or cozier depending on the chosen color because it reduces visual clutter. Looking for an even bolder drench? We are seeing more designers kick the drenching trend up a notch by doing pattern drenching with wallpaper, fabric, and even tile. Talk about a statement!

Curves

Curves are current in every way. We’ve been onboard with this trend for a while, but you will see even more curves in 2025. From rounded cabinetry and curved sofas to orb lamps and amoeba-shaped tables, these organic forms create softness and a sense of balance by making any space feel less rigid.

English-Inspired Kitchens

For those of us without an idyllic home in the English countryside, fret not. You can bring the quintessential English character and hominess directly into your kitchen. English-inspired kitchens are popular because they create a cozy and welcoming feeling. Comprised of timeless features like rich woods, historical paint colors, furniture-style cabinetry, stove alcoves, traditional materials, and antique accents, the signature of English style is creating a lived-in look that appears collected over time. Nothing is too precious and it’s a place that you can and should cook.

The Return of the Dining Room

OK, you’ve got us. The dining room never really went away, but it is having a renaissance this year. Gone are the days of passing by this rarely-used room and only pulling out dishware for the holidays. Instead, this trend is really about utilizing all of the space in your home. It’s time to reimagine the dining room so it works for you. Versatility is the name of the game. Maybe your dining room is well-suited to serve multiple purposes as a library/dining room or a game room/dining room. Maybe you banish the “formal” of the formal dining room and craft a more casual entertaining area so it is used often. Whatever the approach, embrace having an intentional gathering zone in your home.

Cordless Lighting

Lamps will shine, quite literally, this year. While recessed lighting has its place (especially in kitchens in bathrooms), more and more homeowners are opting for softer, layered lighting instead of relying only on overhead lighting. Of course, electrical outlets and junction boxes aren’t always placed where you need. Cue cordless lighting! It’s the viral lighting of the moment and for good reason – it’s an easy, affordable, and versatile solution to add light anywhere. Plus, with all of the lamp and sconce designs available, you won’t have to sacrifice style when you ditch the cord.
