Call it a hazard of the job, but we can’t stop ourselves from keeping an eye open for great houses no matter the time or place. We always appreciate good design and eye-catching architecture… even if it distracts us in the middle of watching a favorite flick or the latest episode of a beloved series. The way we see it, movies and TV shows are all about creating a fantasy, so why shouldn’t the featured homes be a part of that fantasy?
After extensive discussion (our group is never shy when it comes to sharing our thoughts), we have put together the unofficial list of dream homes from the silver screen to the small screen where the GW team would like to live, listed in no particular order…
Movies
- Sally and Gillian’s Victorian Home in Practical Magic
- The Hillard’s San Francisco Home in Mrs. Doubtfire
- The McCallister’s Georgian Colonial in Home Alone
- Sam’s Seattle Boat House in Sleepless in Seattle
- Kate and Alex’s Glass House in The Lake House

- Grace and Frankie’s Beach House in Grace & Frankie
- Celeste’s Modern Monterey Home in Big Little Lies

Nancy Meyers Movies
No one does movie homes like Nancy Meyers. She deserves her own category and a lifetime achievement award as we would happily live in ANY of her stunning creations (and even more stunning locales)!
- Iris’ English Cottage in The Holiday
- The Banks’ Traditional Colonial in Father of the Bride
- Jane’s Spanish Hacienda-Style Home in It’s Complicated
- Hallie Parker’s Napa Valley Vineyard in The Parent Trap
- Erica’s Hamptons Beach House in Something’s Gotta Give
